Neshan

Neshan draws inspiration from the relationship between visual balance and asymmetry. The design explores how an uneven composition can remain stable and harmonious through carefully controlled proportions. The contrast between the sloped cushion and its supporting base creates a distinctive silhouette, while the perspective of the armrest adds another layer of visual depth to the side profile.

The concept of Neshan is based on creating balance through asymmetry. The inclined form of the seat cushion is intentionally offset by variations in the length of its supporting base, allowing the overall composition to remain visually stable. Rather than hiding this difference, the design makes it a defining characteristic, turning proportion and structural relationship into the primary elements of its identity.

The design process began with the development of an inclined cushion and the study of how its changing geometry could be supported without compromising visual balance. The length of each base section was adjusted in response to the cushion’s form, creating a controlled relationship between the upper and lower elements. The armrest was then refined through dimensional and perspective studies to achieve a coherent side profile.

Neshan combines an emerald-green silk fabric cushion with a structural base available in oak wood or furniture-grade PVC. The contrast between the soft, upholstered upper element and the solid supporting base reinforces the distinction between comfort and structure. The selected materials also emphasize the sofa’s formal contrast, allowing the inclined cushion and supporting geometry to remain visually legible.
